OverviewJoin to apply for the Payroll Administrator role at The Law Office Management Association (TLOMA) — Blakes, one of Canada’s largest law firms, has an immediate opening in the Toronto office within the Finance department. The Payroll Administrator will assist with payroll preparation and review, and help ensure the integrity of the payroll system on a global level. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role supports the firm’s payroll operations.ResponsibilitiesAssist with the preparation and review of firm payrolls using UKG Kronos (formerly Ultimate Software), applying knowledge of multi-provincial labour standardsVerify the integrity of payroll input and output against various reportsRun imports into payroll software and balance payroll dataEnter payroll-related information into UKG (direct deposits and exception pay details)Assist with processing U.K. and U.S. payrolls for staff on a bi-weekly and monthly basisFinalize payroll processes after balancing and loading direct depositsIssue and verify manual cheques when requiredPrepare Canada Revenue Agency paymentsReconcile and remit payments for EHT monthlyComplete Records of EmploymentPrepare reports for client chargesComplete monthly journal entriesRespond to employee inquiriesAssist with annual compensationAssist with pension and RRSP contributionsCalculate termination/severance payments as required, in respect of legislative requirementsQualificationsEducation/Experience:Diploma in payroll, accounting, or a related field is preferredMinimum of three years of payroll experience required; legal institution experience would be an assetCPP designation from the National Payroll Institute (formerly CPA Canada Payroll) or in the process of being obtained is preferredSkills and Abilities:Strong attention to detail in a high-volume, deadline-driven environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to multi-task and respond to ad hoc questions while meeting deadlinesMaintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in interactionsWork independently and collaboratively with internal clientsStrong computer skills in MS Windows, Excel, and WordAbility to handle complex problems and sensitive issues across all offices (e.g., new hire/termination requirements, special payments, and staff pay discussions)Willingness to research issues such as pay adjustments, pension contributions, and taxable benefitsHow To ApplyTo apply for this position, please submit your application along with a cover letter and résumé directly to our application portal.
