Speech Language PathologistSpeech and Language Pathologists work in several schools in the district to provide evaluation and remediation of a range of communicative difficulties in school populations (Kindergarten to Grade 12). As a member of a School Based Team, the Speech and Language Pathologist will be required to work collaboratively and to provide consultative support to teachers, support staff and families. This position requires travel to various school sites. Applicants must be a member of the College of Health and Care Professionals of B.C. Continuing, full-time (2.00 FTE) Temporary, full-time (1.00 FTE), Sept 1 to Jan 26, 2026 Temporary, part-time (0.80 FTE), Sept 1 to Dec 31, 2025 Temporary, part-time (0.60 FTE), Sept 1 to Jun 30, 2026 Temporary, part-time (0.40 FTE), Sept 1 to Mar 13, 2026 AAC Speech and Language Pathologist The AAC SLP completes the same duties as the SLP and provides a range of services (intervention, consultation, assessment etc.) to students in the district who require Augmentative and Alternative Communication intervention. This position is based in District Learning Services and provides support to students in elementary schools who require AAC intervention. Continuing, part-time (0.80 FTE) Temporary, part-time (0.40 FTE), Sept 1 to Mar 13, 2026 Qualifications Post graduate degree in Speech Language Pathology, as well as eligibility for certification with the Canadian Association for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills; demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload. Broad knowledge of evidence-based practice, familiarity and comfort with paper-based and digital communication strategies and tools. General knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication strategies and interventions. Demonstrated skills and knowledge working with school aged children. Demonstrated skills in collaborating and working with school-based professionals, ability to develop and deliver presentations or training, and ability to provide effective consultation. Postgraduate Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, as well as eligibility for certification with the Canadian Association for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (AAC SLP role). Experience and relevant coursework in the field of Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Experience and relevant coursework in implementation of a wide variety of AAC strategies, including ALMS, Partner Assisted Scanning, developmental language approaches, etc. Experience and knowledge in the creation and implementation of AAC solutions, selecting systems to trial, and with providing technology options to support access needs. Experience and knowledge in the implementation and programming of a wide variety of communication boards, core and PODD books, speech-generating devices, eye gaze technology, etc. Understanding of literacy skill development (emergent and conventional/structured) and experience with literacy programs (ALL, UFLI) an asset. Experience and comfort in providing in-service and workshops to parents, schools, and district staff. Ability to work collaboratively with schools, home, and agency-based partners.
