Hospitalist

The PRHC Hospitalist Program is a dynamic service that cares for approximately 160 in-patients daily across Acute Care, Rehab, Complex Continuing Care, and Psychiatry. Hospitalists carry a caseload of about 18 acute patients, following them from admission to discharge, and rotate on-call shift coverage.

Position Qualifications:

  1. Currently licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario or eligible to obtain license.
  2. Fellow Royal College of Physician and Surgeons Internal Medicine or equivalent Hospitalist training.
  3. Eligible for Active or Associate staff privileges at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
  4. Evidence of ongoing continued medical education to satisfy the requirements of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  5. Commitment to a multi-disciplinary team approach.
  6. Qualified to provide a full range of inpatient medical care.
  7. Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients, directors, managers, and community representatives.
  8. Demonstrated ability to integrate current evidence and best practices into the delivery of quality care.
  9. Excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to continually changing priorities.
  10. Actively encourage a spirit of cooperation amongst team members.
