**WHAT YOU’LL DO**:
The Inpatient Clerk supports the patient care team and the patient experience on inpatient units. Responsibilities include: reception duties for calls and visits to the unit from internal staff, non-PRHC personnel; non-clinical patient assistance (responding to general inquiries, directing patients and visitors to the most appropriate clinical team member, providing assistance to obtain services); facilitation of communication (receiving mail, fax).

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING**:

- Successful completion of a **Hospital Nursing Unit Secretary Certificate **or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

**WHO YOU ARE**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word
- Accurate keyboarding skills: 4500 keystrokes per hour
- Ability to type 35 words per minute
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent telephone manner
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a group as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and complete work within set deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to reprioritize tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrated effective conflict resolution skills
- Ability to respond competently to crisis/urgent situations
- Demonstrated good attendance with the ability to maintain this within the Health Centre’s standard

- Previous experience with accessing and navigating a patient’s electronic health record in a Clinical Information System is considered an asset
