About the RoleThe People & Culture Director is a hands‑on, trusted leader responsible for building, supporting, and evolving the employee experience at Mine & Yours. This role blends HR operations, people strategy, and culture leadership, ensuring our team feels supported, compliant, engaged, and set up to succeed as the business grows.
This is not a purely strategic or systems‑focused role. The People & Culture Director is in the details, partnering closely with leadership, store teams, and HQ to manage payroll, employment standards, onboarding, performance, training, and day‑to‑day people matters. Reporting directly to the COO and working closely with the leadership team, this role plays a key part in shaping Mine & Yours as an employer of choice while maintaining operational excellence, clarity, and care across the organization. What You’ll DoPeople Operations & ComplianceOwn all core HR operations including payroll, benefits administration, employee records, and HR documentationEnsure compliance with employment standards, labour laws, and workplace policies across provincesManage employee lifecycle processes including hiring support, onboarding, offboarding, and internal transitionsServe as the go‑to resource for employee questions related to policies, pay, benefits, and workplace mattersPartner with external vendors as needed (payroll, benefits, legal, HR consultants)Onboarding, Training & DevelopmentDesign and continuously improve onboarding programs that set employees up for success from day onePartner with leaders to develop training programs for retail, HQ, and leadership rolesSupport performance management cycles including goal setting, feedback, reviews, and development plansCoach leaders on people management, performance conversations, and team developmentIdentify growth opportunities and career pathways to support retention and engagementPerformance & Employee ExperienceLead performance management processes with clarity, fairness, and consistencySupport leaders with performance improvement plans, coaching conversations, and accountability frameworksFoster a culture of feedback, recognition, and continuous improvementAddress employee relations matters with empathy, discretion, and professionalismHelp leaders navigate change with clear communication and people‑first decision makingCulture & EngagementChampion Mine & Yours’ values across all people practices and employee touchpointsSupport initiatives that build connection, inclusion, and engagement across teams and locationsPartner with leadership to maintain a strong, healthy culture during periods of growth or changeAct as a cultural steward, ensuring the employee experience aligns with the brand experienceSupport internal communications that keep teams informed, aligned, and connectedLeadership Partnership & GrowthPartner closely with the CEO and leadership team to align people strategy with business goalsProvide insight on workforce planning, organizational design, and team structure as the company evolvesBring structure, clarity, and process to people operations without overcomplicating themIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and employee experience across the organizationBalance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution every dayWhat You’ll Bring5+ years of progressive experience in HR, People Operations, or HR Generalist rolesStrong working knowledge of Canadian employment law, payroll, and HR best practicesExperience supporting retail or multi‑location teams is a strong assetHands‑on experience with onboarding, performance management, and employee relationsAbility to build trust quickly and communicate with empathy and clarityHighly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple prioritiesConfident advising leaders while staying grounded and practicalPassion for people, culture, and building thoughtful employee experiencesInterest in fashion, retail, or purpose‑driven businesses is a plusKey Measures of SuccessSmooth, compliant, and accurate people operationsStrong onboarding experience and early employee engagementConsistent and fair performance management practices across teamsHigh trust between employees, leaders, and People & CultureReduced turnover and improved employee satisfactionLeaders feel supported and confident managing their teamsWhat’s In It for YouMarket‑aligned pay, health benefits, and vacationStore discount and monthly clothing allowanceA supportive, creative culture where ideas and individuality are celebratedThe opportunity to grow into future leadership roles within a purpose‑driven, sustainable luxury businessOur Commitment to InclusionAt Mine & Yours, diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to who we are.
