The College of Dental Surgeons of Alberta (CDSA) registers dentists and ensures that the dental health of Albertans is advanced through safe, available, quality, and ethical dental services. The CDSA governs the profession of dentists in a manner that protects and serves the public and patients in accordance with the Health Professions Act , and is accomplished by:


Establishing, maintaining, and enforcing standards for registration and continuing competence for the profession of dentists in Alberta;
Establishing, maintaining, and enforcing a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, including monitoring and evaluating professional, clinical, and ethical standards;
Providing direction to, and regulating the practice of the dentist’s profession, and
Acting on a complaint about a dentist by resolving, investigating, or referring the matter to a hearing, and enforcing any orders that a hearing tribunal may make.

Mission
To lead the profession via governance in a manner that protects and serves the public interest.

About the Position:

As the Administrative Assistant for the Registration Department, they will work collaboratively with a team and be responsible for processing applications and renewals and providing general support within the department. This role involves working closely with the profession to ensure efficient registration, answering inquiries, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent customer service.

The candidate will be highly organized and self-motivated and will be comfortable with general office operations, including email, Word, Excel, data entry, and setting up video conferences. This position represents our organization, so candidates should have good people and communication skills to best work with our new applicants and existing regulated members.

Responsibilities:

Act as the first point of contact for the Registrations Department and respond to inquiries regarding the application and renewal processes.
Receive, review, and maintain applications, approvals, and other documentation relating to applicants and regulated members.
Assist in administering the Ethics and Jurisprudence Exam.
Schedule and attend the Orientation and Registration Session.
Assist the Director of Registrations in all aspects of the department.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Communication: clear, concise verbal and written communication to explain processes and respond to inquiries. Active listening skills to understand individuals’ needs and resolve issues effectively.
Attention to Detail: ensuring accuracy when inputting data, drafting summaries, or correspondence.
Microsoft Office Suite: proficiency in tools like Excel for tracking and reporting data, Word for creating communications, and Outlook for managing email correspondence.
Ethics and Confidentiality: demonstrate high ethical standards, commitment to confidentiality, and awareness of appropriate discretion.
Organization & Time Management: possess organizational skills and prioritization methods to successfully take on a heavy workload with strict deadlines.
Adaptable: able to adjust to changing procedures, technologies, or needs.
Problem Solving: ability to recognize, evaluate, and resolve problems efficiently and effectively.
Experience: three to five (3-5) years of business office administration experience.

Work Schedule:

Full-time:
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary:

Starting at $60,000 per year plus health benefits
