The Fraser Institute has a full-time opening for an HR Manager in our Vancouver or Calgary office. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced HR professional who is comfortable with hands‑on execution, enhancing the overall employee experience and supporting a high performing culture. This is a key role in our organization which supports the Institute’s most important asset: our people. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this position will support all areas of HR, including maintaining a culture driven by mission and values, driving HR initiatives, performance management, coaching, training and development, employee relations and engagement, legislative compliance as well as assisting with HR projects and employee events. The ideal candidate will have proven HR experience at the managerial level, strong communication skills, an ability to drive HR initiatives, build trust and create positive working relationships across the Institute. Here’s what you’ll do: Act as a valuable resource to the Institute team by providing expertise, guidance, and coaching in all areas of human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, legislative compliance, etc. Manage and support recruitment and onboarding efforts to attract and hire top talent aligned with both skills and cultural fit. Support leadership initiatives, providing coaching and mentorship to both emerging and established leaders. Partner with managers and executives to drive a high performing culture through supporting the performance management processes, including goal setting, assessments, and career/team development and training. Serve as a trusted partner to all team members on HR related matters. Keep up to date and ensure compliance with various HR related legislative requirements, employment laws and emerging trends. Plan and coordinate employee training and development events and organize staff appreciation events. In conjunction with the Director, Human Resources, identify opportunities to further develop and expand HR initiatives, policies, processes and programs. Other responsibilities assigned by the Director, Human Resources. About you: You have a post‑secondary degree in Human Resources or a related field. You have 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, ideally supporting an executive/leadership team. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are able to present yourself in a professional demeanor, with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels. You have the ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information. You’re an ambitious go‑getter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, prioritize, work to deadlines, are always looking for opportunities to improve and you are excited to learn and grow with the organization. You have a good understanding of legislation, employment standards and OHS standards. What we offer: Salary range: $75,000 - $90,000. Opportunity to work alongside a great team of professionals.
