Position Overview The Staff Accountant is a mid‑level accounting role within the Accounting team, with responsibilities across trust accounting, accounts receivable, general ledger, statutory filings, and backup support. Responsibilities Trust accounting: review and post trust deposits, regular review of trust accounts. Accounts Receivable: daily deposits (EFT, cheque, credit card), maintain documentation, report discrepancies, update director, monthly bank reconciliations. General ledger: prepare month‑end GL account reconciliations and journal entries, assist with statutory filings. Support and backup: assist in billing, payable cycle, client collections, monitoring AP/AR inbox. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a 2‑year diploma in accounting. 3‑5 years of full‑cycle accounting experience or a combination of AP, AR, billing, or related roles in a professional services environment. Law firm experience is preferred. Required Skills Knowledge of accounting software (experience with Acumin is an asset). Knowledge of trust accounting principles. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Apps, especially Excel. Computer savvy and quick to learn new programs. Professional Attributes Strong communication skills in written and verbal English. Professionalism: integrity, respect, ownership of work. Adaptability: adjust to change and growth. Time management: prioritize workload, meet deadlines while maintaining work/life balance.
