Research Admin Coordinator

Primary Purpose:  The Research Administration Coordinator will provide support for the research and graduate programs of the College of Dentistry. This position is a valuable member of a team tasked with increasing the research intensiveness of the college to achieve the goals outlined in the college’s 10-year research plan. This incumbent will work closely with the College of Dentistry Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies (ADR) , Research Facilitator, and individual faculty members.

Nature of Work:  Reporting to the ADR of the College of Dentistry, the Research Administration Coordinator will provide administrative support for initiatives of the Research Office, including graduate programs administration, and assist the Research Facilitator and faculty members with grant applications and tracking research metrics. This position will include a blend of tasks, with or without formally established procedures/guidelines; it will require the ability and flexibility to take on tasks or projects that may or may not have a standard operating procedure. A high level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills are required. The work will have deadlines, peak periods and situations that require multitasking and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Typical Duties/Accountabilities: 

Contribute to research success of college (faculty, students, and college level activities)

Assist faculty members with updating/maintaining CV data and research profiles across all systems; Assist with proofreading and editing of grant applications, manuscripts, award applications; Assist with drafting timelines, budgets, and support letters for grant applications and awards;  Assist faculty with application portals, document management, UnivRS, etc. for grant submissions; Contribute to data collection for college metrics and assist with background research, environmental scans, etc. that inform research activities in the college; Contribute to special projects of strategic importance to enhancing research in the college, as assigned. 

Provide support for Research Office and Graduate Programs

Manage scheduling and provide administrative support for ADR commitments and committees; Administer the post-admission phase for college graduate programs (MSc and PhD) including record-keeping on various USask systems; Provide administrative support for summer research program coordinator; Coordinate logistics for research-related events, such as research seminar series and research day; Review websites to ensure accuracy of graduate program and research-related content  Assist with preparation of college level research-related presentations, as assigned.

Qualifications
Required skills: 

Proficiency in English language proofreading and editing;  Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective communication and relationship building with faculty, staff, and students;  Excellent problem-solving skills with the flexibility to manage non-routine requests; Ability to prioritize workload to meet internal and external deadlines;  Initiative to move beyond completion of assigned tasks to consider future implications or process improvements; The candidate must be self-motivated and willing to acquire new knowledge and skills.

Education : An undergraduate degree. Candidates with diverse education, training, and work backgrounds will be considered.

Experience : 2 - 5 years of relevant experience is preferred, with preference to applicants who have experience in an academic or research environment.
