About The Role Specialist, Commercial Lines – Join our growing team at Intact We are looking for an experienced underwriting specialist to support commercial lines across Canada. What You'll Do Here Generate and present new ideas and solutions to challenges using critical thinking skills. Contribute to the development of strategies and corporate guidelines to effectively control insurance risks and positively impact profitability. Provide technical guidance and coaching to underwriters to ensure consistent application of corporate guidelines while building productive relationships. Collaborate with underwriters on large or complex files, unusual exposures, or cases requiring creative solutions. Facilitate the transfer of technical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and guidance toward a solution‑oriented underwriting approach. Participate in the development and delivery of underwriting training programs for regional staff and brokers. Contribute to the overall planning, design, and delivery of current and new products. What You Bring To The Table Minimum 5‑7 years of relevant underwriting experience. Strong knowledge of commercial auto insurance wording, products, appetite, and philosophy, plus underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to consider multiple perspectives. Proactive in identifying learning and training opportunities and proposing actionable solutions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Capability to collaborate, promote partnerships, and build effective work relationships. Self‑driven and able to thrive under pressure. Adaptable to workplace changes. Proficiency with Intact underwriting systems and office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) courses is an asset. No Canadian work experience required; must be eligible to work in Canada.
