The Winipeg Branch of Optimum Insurance Company is currently seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriter. Reporting to the Regional Vice-President, the Underwriter works within established authority and service levels dealing with commercial property and casualty policies in order to contribute to a profitable portfolio of business. The Underwriter is also a knowledge resource for the Commercial Department and is required to play a role in the development of other staff members in the team.
**Specific responsibilities**:
- To quote, negotiate, and authorize the acceptance of new businesses, renewals, and endorsements.
- To consistently maintain and follow the company’s underwriting guidelines.
- To contribute to the Commercial Lines Branch Objectives for new business, retention and profit, ensuring that all service standards are being adequately monitored and that the department meets or exceeds all specific targets.
- To meet the New Business targets.
- To meet the company’s requirements regarding individual broker visits.
- To act as a resource for brokers and underwriters for resolving complex underwriting issues.
- To provide technical advice and coaching to underwriters.
- All other related tasks.
