Senior Technology Architect

  • Contract Duration: 6 Months
  • Pay Range: C$900 to 915/hr

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, recommend, document, implement, and manage the technical architecture (hardware, software, database, and communications) for applications in a large, distributed cross-platform environment.
  • Identify relevant information and determine the environment for development.

General Skills:

  • Leadership experience in developing and implementing technical architectures at a senior level.
  • Extensive experience with at least three different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, and communications protocols.
  • Experience with middleware and gateways.
  • Knowledge of performance considerations in different environments.
  • Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, and implementation of applications.
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments.
  • Knowledge and experience designing processes around ITIL and guiding others using this methodology.
  • Experience translating business requirements into reporting needs.
  • Experience preparing conceptual, logical, and/or physical processes and data models.
  • Experience developing, recommending, implementing, and managing technical architecture.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, trends, and directions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g., models).

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of Esri-based geospatial solutions, ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Image Server, GIS infrastructure, middleware, maintenance, services, applications, databases, monitoring, and tools.
  • Knowledge of integrated networking technologies, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Spatial, MS Fabric, midrange server, enterprise storage, and personal computer system technologies.
  • Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables based on Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.

Must Haves:

  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large enterprise environments, including preparing conceptual, logical, and/or physical processes and data models.
  • Experience rapidly and succinctly documenting architectural designs.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

IT Architecture Experience - 40%

  • Leadership experience in the development and implementation of technical architectures at a senior level.
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large enterprise environments, including preparing conceptual, logical, and/or physical processes and data models.
  • Experience supporting IT Infrastructure modernization, maintenance, and the development of new solutions (services, tools, applications, databases, etc.).
  • Experience rapidly and succinctly documenting architectural designs.

Technical Experience - 35%

  • Experience supporting the design of Esri-based geospatial solutions, ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Image Server.
  • Experience with multiple spatial and non-spatial database technologies (e.g., Oracle Spatial, Azure SQL DB, MS Fabric, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure (e.g., virtual hardware, scaling, middleware, gateways, storage, and levels of highly available deployments).

Communication Experience - 20%

  • Experience communicating technical concepts to client audiences.
  • Experience negotiating to achieve consensus.
  • Experience supporting stakeholder engagement.

IT Public Sector Experience - 5%

  • Experience supporting IT projects in the Ontario Government and/or Land and Resources I&IT Cluster (LRC).
  • Experience overseeing Digital First Assessments, Cyber Security, Architecture reviews, and other corporate reviews from within the Ontario Government.
  • Experience with Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practices.
