Position: Senior Technology Architect

  • Contract Duration: 6 Months
  • Compensation: C$900 to 915/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, propose, document, execute, and oversee the technical framework (hardware, software, database, and communication systems) for applications within a vast, distributed cross-platform setting.
  • Assess pertinent information and establish the development environment.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven leadership in crafting and executing technical frameworks at a senior level.
  • Comprehensive experience across at least three distinct platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, and communication protocols.
  • Proficiency with middleware and gateways.
  • Understanding of performance factors across various environments.
  • Expertise in structured methodologies for application design, development, and implementation.

  • Experience in producing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g., models).

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Esri-based geospatial solutions, including ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Image Server.
  • Knowledge of integrated networking technologies, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Spatial, MS Fabric, midrange server, enterprise storage, and personal computer system technologies.
  • Experience in creating enterprise architecture deliverables aligned with Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture standards.
  • Understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design within large enterprise settings, including the preparation of conceptual, logical, and/or physical data models and processes.
  • Proficiency in quickly and clearly documenting architectural designs.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

IT Architecture Experience - 40%

  • Leadership in the development and execution of technical frameworks at a senior level.
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design within large enterprise environments, including the preparation of conceptual, logical, and/or physical data models and processes.
  • Experience in supporting IT infrastructure modernization, maintenance, and the creation of new solutions (services, tools, applications, databases, etc.).
  • Ability to rapidly and succinctly document architectural designs.

Technical Experience - 35%

  • Experience in designing Esri-based geospatial solutions, including ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Image Server.
  • Familiarity with various spatial and non-spatial database technologies (e.g., Oracle Spatial, Azure SQL DB, MS Fabric, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure (e.g., virtual hardware, scaling, middleware, gateways, storage, and high availability deployments).

Communication Experience - 20%

  • Ability to convey technical concepts to client audiences.
  • Experience in negotiating to reach consensus.
  • Support for stakeholder engagement.

IT Public Sector Experience - 5%

  • Experience in supporting IT projects within the Ontario Government and/or Land and Resources I&IT Cluster (LRC).
  • Oversight of Digital First Assessments, Cyber Security, Architecture reviews, and other corporate evaluations within the Ontario Government.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practices.
