Mohawk College is experiencing significant growth in the School of Health, especially in the Nursing programs. The Associate Dean, Nursing will provide academic and administrative leadership to ensure innovative, high-quality education that prepares graduates for success in the ever-evolving healthcare industry. This role will collaborate with faculty, students, and healthcare partners to advance the college's mission and elevate its nursing programs.This position will be responsible for overseeing the following programs within the School of Health, including but not limited to: Practical Nursing Bachelor of Science, Nursing (McMaster/Mohawk)Academic Leadership & Program Development
Provide strategic leadership in the development, delivery and continuous improvement of nursing programs including Personal Support Worker, Practical Nursing, and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (in partnership with McMaster University).Ensure all programs meet accreditation standards and regulatory requirements set by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and other governing bodies.Lead curriculum innovation, incorporating emerging trends and best practices in nursing education and healthcare delivery.Foster a collaborative, inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and student success.Provide leadership and direction to part-time, partial load, and full-time faculty, as well as administrative support staff, fostering a cohesive and collaborative team environment.Ensure effective communication, equitable workload distribution, and professional development opportunities, while guiding the team to achieve both academic and operational goals.Champion student success by fostering a supportive academic environment and addressing student needs.Oversee academic advising, student retention strategies, and program progression, ensuring students meet program requirements.Build and maintain strong relationships with clinical partners, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders to enhance learning opportunities for students.Secure clinical placements, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with industry partners.Represent Mohawk College at external events, conferences, and within professional networks to strengthen the reputation of the nursing programs.Strategic Planning & Quality Assurance Collaborate with the Dean to align nursing programs with the college’s strategic goals and the needs of the healthcare industry.Utilize data and feedback to drive continuous improvement in program quality, student outcomes, and operational efficiency.Manage the nursing department's operational budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources to support program delivery and growth.Ensure compliance with college policies and procedures in all administrative and operational functions.Change Management & Innovation Lead initiatives that support the growth and modernization of nursing education, including the integration of simulation technologies and digital learning tools.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage change processes that enhance the nursing programs’ overall effectiveness.A master’s degree in Nursing (or a related field) and current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Ontario are required.Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive administrative or management experience, preferably in the post-secondary education or healthcare sectors.Strong follow-through skills, with a highly organized approach to managing multiple programs and initiatives.Proven experience in mentoring teams and driving a high-performance, healthy culture within a complex environment.High emotional intelligence (EQ-i), with a collaborative leadership style that promotes inclusivity and teamwork.Familiarity with regulatory standards, quality assurance processes, and trends in nursing and healthcare.Experience fostering a supportive, inclusive, and diverse learning and working environment.A progressive vacation plan starting with 22 vacation days per year plus holiday closure.Enrollment in the Defined Benefit Pension Plan (CAAT), with matching contributions from Mohawk College.A comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, paramedical services, and disability coverage.-
