NSB Omega is searching for a Lab Sampling Technician for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in Christina Lake, AB.

Assignment Description

Performs sampling tasks throughout the plant site, field and off sites of varying matrixes to support critical and core analysis in support of our operation, ensuring these samples are representative of the source.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  1. Support lab operation, safety and environmental systems
  2. Support stakeholders on projects, R&D and operations optimization
  3. Troubleshoot plant process/sampling issues
  4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable prescribed software and programs
  5. Look for and lead efforts to improve processes and procedures as it relates to position
  6. Carry out routine and non-routine lab sampling
  7. Perform routine and non-routine chemical and physical analysis as requested/required in support of stakeholders and co-workers
  8. Data entry as needed
  9. Communicate with Operations on plant issues impacting sampling and safety
  10. Ensure proper safety protocols are in place and in practice when performing duties
  11. Identify issues that impact safety, environment and/or production
  12. Report any safety issues that come up and help contribute to ideas for avoiding accidents and improving the overall safety at the Christina Lake facility
  13. Shipping champion for Lab group, ensuring TDG requirements are met, proper labeling/cost coding is documented on COCs, etc.
  14. Clean sampling containers (cylinders) to prevent contamination
  15. Train new Field Lab Technicians on sampling protocols and procedures
  16. Ensure proper communication and documentation occurs with cross shift (crossover notes, etc.)

Qualifications Required

  1. Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
  2. Would be an Asset:
  3. Industry exposure
  4. Mechanically inclined
  5. Sampling experience
