Job Description:

As a Research Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our operations by performing sampling tasks throughout the plant site, field, and off-site locations of varying matrixes. Your primary objective will be to ensure that samples are representative of the source, which is essential for our operation.

A Typical Day:

  • Supporting Lab Operations, Safety, and Environmental Systems: You will work closely with our lab operations team to ensure that all systems are running smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
  • Project Support: As a Research Laboratory Specialist, you will provide support to stakeholders on various projects, R&D initiatives, and operations optimization efforts.
  • Software Proficiency: You must demonstrate a working knowledge of prescribed software and programs applicable to your role.
  • Chemical and Physical Analysis: You will perform routine and non-routine chemical and physical analysis as requested or required to support stakeholders and coworkers.
  • Communication: You will maintain open communication with our operations team regarding plant issues that may impact sampling and safety.
  • Shipping Champion: As the shipping champion for our lab group, you will ensure that TDG requirements are met, proper labeling and cost coding are documented on COCs, and so on.
  • Cross-Shift Communication: You will guarantee that proper communication and documentation occur between shifts, including crossover notes.
  • Licensing Requirement: A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License is required for this position.
  • Asset Qualifications: While not mandatory, having experience in laboratory settings, particularly in the oil and gas sector, would be an asset.
  • Contract Duration: This is a 12-month contract position.

Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Please note that this is an estimated range and may vary based on individual factors.
