About Our Opportunity

As the Manager, Equity Programs and Initiatives, you provide expertise in leadership, team building, project management, and stakeholder relations to advance the equity, diversity, and inclusion vision of the department. You lead the development and administration of the department’s health equity strategies and frameworks using an anti-racism anti-oppression lens, while focusing on social determinants of health and other related outcomes. Furthermore, you develop and lead equity-related project plans, while providing strategic leadership to key activities, reporting progress, managing internal/external project working groups, and building trust and reciprocal relationships with various equity-seeking populations, community groups, and institutions. p>Primary Accountabilities

  • Provides project leadership and support to key divisional projects and initiatives such as the delivery of department’s staff equity strategy, staff equity and inclusion plan, the department’s Diversity Committee, and advancing various capacity building initiatives for departmental and health system partners.
  • Provides policy leadership and development by creating anti-racism and anti-oppression policies; creating policies related to departmental workforce equity.
  • Influences programs and legislation to establish collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders (internal staff, institutional stakeholders – community-based groups, advice to departmental leadership executive members to Minister).
  • Fosters strategic, respectful, and reciprocal relationships with various community partners and institutional stakeholders, to build and sustain a culture of trust and collective ownership on EDIRA (equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, accessibility) matters.
  • Provides staff training and support to build leadership competency around health equity through the development of training programs.
  • Provides leadership contributions to key relevant departmental conversations, research, policy and evaluation initiatives that are aimed at advancing health equity outcomes, perspectives and best practices.
  • Ensures the effective management of human and financial resources by setting and evaluating staff performance targets, promoting diversity and a healthy, respectful workplace, demonstrating the leadership competencies, respecting corporate human resources practices, promoting teamwork and individual development.
Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, you hold a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with extensive experience as a manager of people, in project management, and policy development. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
