p>Victoria Newitt Recruitment Inc has been retained by our confidential client to search for their next VP Finance.

Our client, a privately held manufacturer, has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, evolving from a “mom and pop shop” into a strategically focused corporation poised for substantial growth through both organic expansion and acquisitions.

The newly created Vice President of Finance role will oversee the finance and administration team and serve as a key member of the Company’s Executive team. Reporting directly to the President, this position is designed to be a cornerstone of a high-performing executive team tasked with steering the company through its planned strategic initiatives and organic growth.

Role:
As the VP of Finance, you will be responsible for helping grow the business strategically and operationally. This position will lead all aspects of financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, risk management, and corporate finance to support the growth and development of the company. This role will also oversee legal, HR, and some aspects of IT.
The VP of Finance will perform a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:
Participate in key decisions as a member of our Executive leadership teamWorking with our Controller, develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reportsAccountable to maintain the financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, bank reconciliations and petty cashReport financial status weekly, and as required, to leadership teamManage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecastsNegotiate and manage the employee insurance, RRSP and benefit plansNegotiate and manage insurance policiesReview monthly results and implement monthly/quarterly variance reportingDevelop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislationManage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriateOversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate mannerEstablish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation for various departmentsManage the production and implementation of the annual budget in consultation with the Executive TeamReview spending of all departments while looking for areas to lower costsTrack, review and calculate inventoryNegotiate with financial institutions for lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriateEnsure all tax remittances are filed, including GST, PST, & Income Tax Installment paymentsEnsure all other monthly/quarterly remittances, such as WorkSafeBC and Accounts Receivable insurance reports are filedMonth/Quarter/Year end proceduresFacilitate audits with third party accounting firm and governmentFinancial reporting to the bank to facilitate access to loans/lines of creditResearch and apply for government grants/rebates where applicable (i.e. SR&ED)Manage the IT infrastructureReview and manage legal documentsAssist HR department where required
Required Skills and Experience:
Self-starter, extremely driven and efficientBackground in manufacturingAbility to maintain a high level of detail and accuracySignificant level of maturity and the ability to work as a part of a teamAbility to work with highly sensitive and confidential informationAbility to maintain a professional demeanor that inspires trust and respectMinimum 8 years’ experience in accounting paired with previous leadership experienceCPA designation requiredUniversity degree or college diploma in Accounting, Commerce, or Business
Management/Administration:
Excellent Microsoft Office SkillsOutstanding Excel skillsExperience working in/with high growth companies an assetExperience with Salesforce/Financial Force an asset but not requiredAbility to communicate to people at all levelsHighly motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasmExcellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong leadership and mentoring skillsHigh level of integrity and work ethicStrong motivation to continuously improve personally, and professionallyA competitive, never give up attitude
