Summit Truck Equipment is in need of a Human Resources Business Partner to be responsible for every area of human resources, included but not limited to: employee relations, investigations, performance management, benefits, workers compensation, legal preparations and compliance, unemployment, payroll, safety, training, OSHA 300 Reporting, EEO-1 Reporting, compensation analysis, ACA and so much more

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Consult with employees and managers to provide HR support, address questions and concerns by interpreting and applying company policies.
  2. Partner with managers on employee development, coaching, and performance improvement. Manage employees’ requests for accommodations under ADA, including initial inquiry through to the final implementation of appropriate accommodations.
  3. Manage employee leaves of absence (unpaid personal, FMLA, STD) from initial request through formal designation and approval. Manage short-term disability applications, premium adjustments, and return to work plans.
  4. Partner with business leaders to develop standardized compensation plans to document pay practices and commission structures. Collaborate with Recruiting and managers to evaluate existing job titles and descriptions for accuracy and consistency. When necessary, assist with creating new position titles and descriptions.
  5. Support a successful employee onboarding process and foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  6. Demonstrate continuous effort in developing and fostering relationships with all levels of management and employees.
  7. Maintain employee personnel files and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, etc.
  8. Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity, sexual harassment and recommend changes as needed.
  9. Assist with the administration of the benefits program, including renewal strategy, plan design, open enrollment, mid-year changes, benefit enrollment site management, premium adjustments, etc.
  10. Assist with monitoring the DOT program and ensuring that all necessary employees are in compliance with FMCSA requirements.
  11. Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination and prepare recommendations to be presented to the HR Director.
  12. Respond to unemployment claims and represent the organization at appeal hearings, as appropriate.
  13. Utilize outside resources to monitor employment law updates, communicating potential changes to senior management.
  14. Assist with Cost Containment process and other safety related programs.
  15. Investigate and report on occupational accidents and injuries, manage workers compensation cases, and generate annual OSHA reports.
  16. Ensure HR regulations, statutes, and government mandates are met.
  17. COVID: Manage employee reports of illness, notify employee populations, complete county required reports, ensure consistent communication regarding company policy.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  1. Requires sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
  2. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
  3. Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.
  4. Requires working in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Requires the ability to occasional travel to local business locations, during business hours, about 5-10% of the time.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing.
  3. Personnel and Human Resources – Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and personnel information systems.
  4. Law and Government – Knowledge of employment laws nationwide, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, etc.
  5. General to advanced knowledge of all Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe applications.
  6. Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  7. Exercise a high level of attention to detail and confidentiality.
  8. Demonstrate superior communication skills in person, over the phone and through email and other electronic means.
  9. Experience with Paylocity, preferred.
  10. Five to seven years of experience in human resources.
  11. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  12. PHR or SPHR, preferred.
  13. Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
