What we seek: OCH is currently seeking an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Worker to support integrated pest management activities within OCH communities. Under the guidance of the Manager, Integrated Pest Management, the IPM Worker will accomplish this objective through inspections, tenant interactions, waste management, repair and maintenance, and more. IPM Worker with OCH Ensuring the health and safety of our communities within the city is one of the most important objectives of our organization. As the Integrated Pest Management Worker, you will be a key player in our team to bring a healthy and safe environment for our tenants by helping them with pest related concerns. You will work as a team to not only address pest issues, but to ensure our community members are living a safe and healthy life in their homes by raising awareness and helping to address their related repair and maintenance concerns as well. As an IPM Worker, some of the things you do will include: Work with various stakeholders to prevent and resolve pest concerns Inspect assigned buildings and units to identify problem areas Promote awareness and inform tenants and staff on IPM principles and practices Support effective pest management through waste management, repair and maintenance, and appropriate pest control techniques Assist in unit preparation for treatment Identify issues regarding work performed by contractors Suggest improvements and efficiencies in IPM operations As an IPM Worker, you can look forward to: A fast‑paced environment with unique challenges to overcome A supportive team to help you when needed Meaningful and rewarding interactions with tenants and other stakeholders Using your skills and knowledge to bring a positive change into the lives of our tenants What you bring Education & Experience A typical candidate will have the following qualifications and experience. Exceptional candidates with different qualifications will be considered at the discretion of the employer if demonstrated experience, knowledge, and ability warrant. Completion of a minimum Grade 10 or equivalent A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in pest management and general building maintenance in a residential context Ability to obtain an Ontario Structural Exterminators licence is required Working knowledge of managing pest problems through an integrated pest management approach Knowledge of cleaning methods related to pest management Knowledge of all pesticides (except Fumigants), their application, hazards, and first aid procedures Knowledge of factors impacting on tenant populations in social housing and their relation to pest management Knowledge of applicable legislations such as health and safety, Residential Tenancies Act, and more Fluency in English is required Fluency in French is preferred Skills and abilities Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive issues Ability to use tools and equipment in a safe manner Ability to follow protocols, identify problems, and recommend appropriate solutions Ability to use electronic devices such as mobile devices and computer systems Other Requirements Satisfactory Criminal Records Check Must be medically fit to use respiratory protection as required by OCHC’s Respiratory Protection Procedure Must possess a valid Class "G" driver's license or equivalent Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract Work conditions This is an on‑site full‑time position.
