Pest Management Technician

The Pest Management General Technician plays an important role in the work of a team responsible for the implementation of all facets of our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. The Pest Management General Technician will focus on completing inspections and treatments of occupied & vacant units and common area of the community in pursuit of eliminating pests. They will compete day-to-day maintenance, to a high standard, contributing to the overall customer satisfaction of our residents.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Pest Management

The Pest Management General Technician will support our Integrated Pest Management program through:

- Assessing and treating occupied and vacant units for pests
- Performing routine inspections and scheduled preventative pest management inspections in all common areas of the community
- Performing routine inspections and scheduled preventative pest management inspections in all units
- Completing daily reports and individual unit service reports
- Working closely with the Pest Management Supervisor and Coordinator by recommending best course and method of treatment and preventative measures
- Completing other related duties as required and within scope of the role

2. Customer Service

The Pest Management General Technician ensures a high level of resident satisfaction through:

- Constant and consistent attention to customer service
- Build resident relationships through friendly, helpful, and courteous behaviour during service visits
- Listen to resident needs and offer solutions to pest issues and recommend appropriate services to resolve resident concerns
- Advising the Pest Management Specialist when handling difficult customers

3. High Performing Teams

The Pest Management General Technician will influence staff to ensure a customer centric approach by:

- Contributing to and promoting a cohesive and positive work environment.
- Supporting and corroborating with the Pest Management Specialist in establishing new or revised procedures
- Staying informed of relevant regulations as outlined in the building, property standards, and fire safety codes, as well as landlord-tenant legislation and communicate any pertinent changes to their deliverables
- Stay current on the latest developments, trends, technology and regulations in the pest control industry

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Must have completed high school or obtained an equivalent diploma
- Previous experience in the pest control field would be considered a strong asset
- Must be willing to work towards obtaining a valid provincial Pesticide Applicators license
- Exemplary verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Superior customer service and negotiation skills
- As a condition of employment, must have a valid Criminal Background Check.
- Unless an accommodation under Ontario’s Humans Rights Code is applicable, it is a requirement of the company that all eligible employees are and will remain fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- While not required, a working knowledge of Yardi software would be considered a strong asset
- Understanding of current property management legal and regulatory practices
- A working vehicle and class “G” Ontario Driver’s License are a requirement
- Proficiency with MS Office software.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Extended periods at a computer may be required at times
- Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions
- Competing demands may create stress
- Physical effort is mínimal
- Possible exposure to pest-control related chemicals
- Occasional lifting and carrying tools or equipment up to 50 pounds may be required
- Frequent travel between buildings to visit properties and inspect equipment
