The Opportunity

The Research Coordinator reports to Dr Walid El-Naggar, the Research Director of the Department of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and provides support to the Division with general study tasks as needed. The Research Coordinator will perform a wide range of project duties that may include the following responsibilities listed below as well as general study management assistance to the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine study team as needed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Research 

  • Prepare and verify the source documentation and complete electronic Case Report Forms (eCRF) 
  • Liaise between study participants and/or families and research staff 
  • Knowledge translation/mobilization activities, such as reports, conference presentations 
  • Recruit, enroll, and consent study participants where applicable 
  • Participate in study monitor visits as needed 
  • Processes and submits forms to Research Ethics Board (REB) 
  • Conduct literature searches 
  • Assists with drafting research reports and publication materials 
  • Administration 
  • Organize and file study documents 
  • Track and report on progress of studies 
  • Attend and participate in relevant study meetings and site initiation visits 
Hours of Work

37.5 Hours/Week, Variable Shifts

Your Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in administration, project management or health services/scientific field. 
  • Medical Terminology an asset
  • 3-5 years of relevant research and hospital experience required 
  • Understanding of research environment and Good Clinical Practice
  • Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others 
  • Operates effectively, tactfully, and diplomatically with research team members and study participants
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance study team effectiveness 
  • Organization skills and planning, including developing a work schedule, monitoring progress towards goals, and tracking details, data, information, and activities
  • Demonstrate a high level of time management and decision-making skills regarding setting priorities based on deadlines (both internal and external)
  • Experience with REB submissions considered an asset
