JOB SUMMARY:


This individual will play a key role in the Major Gifts Team. Their primary responsibility will include securing gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations for the Foundation’s major gifts program, including. Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts & Planned Giving, the incumbent will be responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift prospects and donors. In addition to maintaining high-quality relationships with various stakeholders, the person will ensure courteous and professional relations with all internal team members.


The Major Gifts Officer ensures that through his actions and in his work the following principles are brought to life: honesty, confidentiality, respect, fairness and equality.


The Major Gifts Officer will work closely with his/her manager and the Senior Advisor, Major Gifts and Planned Giving, as well as with other team members in the following areas:


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


Donor development & Fundraising

  • a portfolio of potential and active major gift donors composed of individuals, foundations and corporations.
  • in the development and implementation of a cultivation strategy for major gifts ($25,000 and over) in support of Douglas Foundation priorities and initiatives.
  • and qualify individuals to determine capacity, inclination and interest in supporting major gifts to the Douglas.
  • in the growth of the Douglas’ Annual Fund by soliciting current donors, reactivating lapsed donors and acquiring new leadership donors through face-to-face meetings, emails and phone calls.
  • in engagement/stewardship events.
  • collaboration with the Communications Advisor, Major Gifts and Planned Giving, participate in the preparation and drafting of various documents and correspondence related to development activities.
  • the data integrity of the client-server database software (DonorPerfect) by filing timely and appropriate contact reports, recording of proposals, etc.
  • abreast of trends in philanthropy and attend training sessions as needed.
  • special projects as assigned.


Management of volunteer ambassadors

  • managing and retaining the board of young ambassadors
  • development objectives and activities for the board of young ambassadors
  • with the President of the Foundation in building relationships with and aiding in the management of the Douglas Board of Trustees, including Board fundraising initiatives
  • and support leading donors during presentations within their networks or at events benefiting the Foundation
  • and maintain long-term, regular relationships with clinicians, researchers and hospital staff
  • related tasks.

Qualifications

  • Previous fundraising experience (3 years or more), with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding targets.
  • Proven experience in bringing in $25,000 gifts and higher in a variety of contexts.
  • Fully bilingual (French and English).
  • University degree in philanthropic management or other combination of education and experience relevant to the position Certificate in philanthropic management or CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) (an asset)
  • High level of skill and experience using fundraising software and/or other customer relationship management (CRM) systems. Knowledge of DonorPerfect software (asset)
  • Computer proficiency in using the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.).

Le.la conseiller.ère engagement, dons majeurs travaille en étroite collaboration avec l’équipe des dons majeurs et dons planifiés et met en œuvre les différentes stratégies développées afin de créer de nouvelles relations et maintenir des relations durables avec les donateurs, les fondations et les entreprises dans le but de générer des revenus à la Fondation Douglas. Relevant de la Directeur, Dons majeurs et dons planifiés, le titulaire du poste sera responsable de qualifier, cultiver, solliciter et gérer les donateurs actifs et donateurs potentiels. En plus d'entretenir des relations de grande qualité avec les différentes parties prenantes, la personne assurera des relations courtoises et professionnelles avec tous les bénévoles membres de l'équipe interne.

Le.la conseiller.ère engagement, dons majeurs travaillera en étroite collaboration avec son.sa directeur.trice et le conseiller.ère principal.e, dons majeurs et dons planifiés, ainsi qu'avec d'autres membres de l'équipe dans les domaines suivants :


PRINCIPALES RESPONSABILITÉS


Développement des donateurs

  • la gestion d’un portefeuille de donateurs potentiels de dons majeurs composé de particuliers, de fondations et d’entreprises
  • en œuvre les différentes stratégies visant l’obtention de dons majeurs (25 000 $ et plus) en appui aux priorités et aux initiatives de la Fondation Douglas
  • et effectuer la qualification des différents donateurs potentiels afin de déterminer leur capacité, leur motivation et leur intérêt à faire des dons majeurs à la Fondation Douglas
  • à la croissance du Fonds annuel de la Fondation en sollicitant les donateurs actuels, en réactivant les anciens donateurs et en faisant l’acquisition de nouveaux donateurs de premier plan par le biais de différentes stratégies (rencontres en personne, d’échanges courriels et d'appels téléphoniques)
  • dans les événements d’engagement et de remerciement
  • collaboration avec le.la conseiller.ère aux communications, Dons majeurs et dons planifiés, participer à la préparation et la rédaction des différents documents et la correspondance en lien avec les activités de développement
  • dans la base de données, toutes les activités, les approches, les informations particulières et/ou pertinentes dans les dossiers des donateurs afin de faciliter le partage d’information à travers les membres de l’équipe
  • à l’affût des tendances en philanthropie et assister à des formations si nécessaire

Gestion de bénévoles ambassadeurs

  • gérer et fidéliser le conseil des jeunes ambassadeurs
  • des objectifs et des activités de développement pour le conseil des jeunes ambassadeurs.
  • avec le.la président.e de la Fondation pour bâtir des relations avec le conseil d'administration du Douglas et contribuer à sa gestion, y compris les initiatives de collecte de fonds du conseil.
  • et soutenir les donateurs de premier plan lors de présentations au sein de leurs réseaux ou lors d’activité au profit de la Fondation
  • et maintenir des relations régulières et durable avec les cliniciens, les chercheurs et le personnel de l'hôpital.

  • de 3 année d’expérience dans un poste similaire, avec une expérience prouvée dans l'atteinte et le dépassement des objectifs.
  • démontrée dans l'obtention de dons de 25 000 $ et plus dans des contextes variés.
  • maîtrise de l’anglais et du français, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit
  • universitaire en gestion de la philanthropie ou toute autre combinaison d’études et d’expériences pertinentes au poste Certificat en gestion philanthropique ou CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) (un atout)
  • niveau de compétence et d'expérience avec un logiciel de collecte de fonds et/ou un autre système de gestion de la relation client (CRM). Connaissance du logiciel DonorPerfect (atout)
