Be our next Senior Electrical Engineer
Your work environment at EXPIn this role, you will be a part of the mining team, based in Brampton, Sudbury, North Bay, Thompson, St John, or Thunder Bay office.
What a day at EXP has in store for you:
- Lead, supervise and mentor electrical designer level staff on all their responsibilities.
- Power, PLC automation, instrumentation and control design.
- Oversee development of design concepts by designers and ensure proper application and execution.
- Verify designer’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
- Mentor and encourage development of designer level staff.
- Responsible for applying EXP’s risk management practices of electrical engineering.
- Lead the design team to produce engineering/construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.
- Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
- Encourage collaboration to seek the best solutions.
- Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
- Write studies and reports for electrical systems on projects.
- Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
- Perform front-end loading of electrical systems for projects.
- Contribute to revisions of EXP’s design standards and master specifications.
- Evaluate Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.
- Edit and develop the basis of design narratives documenting the project scope.
- High, medium and low voltage AC and DC systems design.
- Protection & Control design.
- Develop electrical one-lines, load lists, area classifications, etc.
- Participate in HAZOP, PHA, safety reviews.
BS Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree.
Registered Professional Engineer Ontario
Ten (10) years’ experience in the mining industry.
