AltaGas Ltd. is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr Director of Sustainability, to lead our sustainability initiatives and drive our commitment to environmental, social, and governance excellence. Reporting directly to the SVP, Corporate Affairs, the Sr Director, Sustainability will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing AltaGas' Sustainability Strategy.
You Will:
Develop and refine AltaGas' Sustainability strategy, collaborating across functions and businesses to set and measure progress, aligning Sustainability priorities with the company's strategic priorities, business objectives, industry best practices and the evolving realities of the external environment
Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring open communication and collaboration on sustainability initiatives
Oversee the preparation and publication of Sustainability reports, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting performance
Lead efforts to facilitate integrated Sustainability reporting with financial information in collaboration with the Finance and Environment, Health and Safety teams
Ensure compliance with all relevant sustainability laws, regulations, and industry standards, maintaining a strong corporate governance framework
Review and recommend voluntary reporting standards for the company
Assess, manage, and present sustainability-related risks, developing strategies to mitigate potential challenges, while being a strong communicator, presenter, and spokesperson for the company
Build and lead a high-performing team, providing mentorship and guidance to team members, and showcasing leadership experience and proficiency in leading and developing teams
You Have:
Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing sustainability strategies in the energy industry
Over 5 years Sustainability specific experience within the energy industry, specializing in Exploration and Production, midstream, or utilities
Strong, demonstrated familiarity with global Sustainability frameworks (ISSB, TCFD, TNFD, SASB) and securities law for effective Sustainability disclosure
Experience implementing climate scenario analysis into strategies and planning
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, prepare Board presentations and be a spokesperson for internal and external audiences
Experience leading the development and publishing of annual Sustainability reports for publicly traded companies
Deep knowledge of environmental and social sustainability best practices trends and regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated ability to drive change and foster a culture of sustainability within an organization
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a master's degree is preferred
