CARSTAR is seeking a Body Shop Manager to join our team

As the Body Shop Manager with CARSTAR, you will oversee daily operations, lead staff, and ensure high-quality collision repairs. If you are an accomplished leader in the automotive collision repair industry with strong organizational and team management skills, this role offers a chance to excel in a dynamic environment and contribute to our shop's success.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  1. Managing the day-to-day operations of the facility, providing an excellent work environment for our employees and an optimal customer experience.
  2. Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with insurance agents, dealerships, fleet accounts, and other customers.
  3. Inspect qualified vehicles and assist in writing damage appraisals.
  4. Informs customers about the repair process, including insurance claims processing, payment procedures, repair techniques, repair needs, and expected delivery date of repair.
  5. Keeps insurance adjusters, production staff, and customers informed regarding the status of the vehicle repair. Write supplements and negotiate with insurers.
  6. Ensures individual insurance partners' guidelines are adhered to.
  7. Monitors progress and completion of vehicles in the shop, ensuring that proper repair and safety procedures are followed.
  8. Ensures that proper safety equipment is available and being used properly.
  9. Oversee OHS program and audit results.
  10. Ensures all completed repairs are inspected before delivering customer vehicles, explains warranty and quality control process with all customers.
  11. Review work orders, assign tasks to employees, and verify the quality of work performed.
  12. Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership's guidelines.
  13. Oversee ordering of replacement parts and body shop supplies, maintaining excellent relationships with dealers and suppliers.
  14. Facilitates and/or conducts technical training and sends employees to appropriate training schools as needed.
  15. Monitors the maintenance of paint booths, frame straightening equipment, and other large, fixed assets to ensure long-term usage and value.
  16. Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
  17. Ensures that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean.
  18. Hires, trains, motivates, and monitors the performance of all body shop employees.
  19. Maintains a positive employee culture with consistent communication with staff.
  20. Review and maintain financial expectations.
  21. Review financials for the shop.
  22. Aid with the annual budgeting process.

Experience/Skill Requirements:

  1. Minimum 2 years of management experience in a collision repair facility.
  2. Prior experience as a collision estimator or insurance appraiser.
  3. Fluent in Estimating Software (Audatex and Mitchell) considered an asset.
  4. I-CAR training or other industry training considered an asset.
  5. Work independently without close supervision.
  6. Flexible/adaptable to constant change.
  7. Strong tact and diplomacy; ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
  8. Highly organized; ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
  9. Developed reasoning/problem solving skills, analytical and decision-making skills.
  10. Ability to prioritize, organize, and plan work under own initiative.
  11. Strong communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
  12. Ability to train others.
  13. Able to motivate and manage production team.
  14. Professional leadership ability.
  15. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  16. Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
