Job Responsibilities
  1. Ensure compliance with all New Gold, provincial, and federal policies related to health, safety, and the environment during the execution of all assigned tasks.
  2. Evaluate the technical and financial feasibility of requested projects and develop the business case to validate and justify these projects.
  3. Adhere to the Management of Change (MOC) procedure to document changes made to original plant design and construction, ensuring that all health, safety, and environmental risks are addressed and mitigated.
  4. Develop scopes of work, work breakdown structure, and preliminary budgets to be tendered for approved projects.
  5. Facilitate bid walks and site visits by service providers invited to bid on tendered jobs.
  6. Thoroughly evaluate tendered bids and proposals to select the contractor(s) to be awarded the work.
  7. Collaborate with Supply Chain to evaluate bids and establish contracts and commercial agreements with the winning bidder.
  8. Develop project budgets and timelines for contractor(s) awarded the project work, considering the scheduled process shutdown/turnaround and production schedules.
  9. Manage the project risk register to mitigate possible threats to successful project execution and perform frequent reviews during the project lifecycle to keep the list current.
  10. Manage the project execution budget and schedules.
  11. Oversee and manage the activities of the Plant Projects Supervisor.
  12. Provide clear objectives and expectations to subordinates regarding performance.
  13. Stay current with best practices in project management.
  14. Provide timely reports to key stakeholders during project development and execution.
  15. Assist with the development and management of mill department CAPEX budgets.
  16. Perform other duties as required and directed by the General Maintenance Superintendent.
