The Opportunity
Are you a corporate governance professional with compensation experience from the oil and gas industry? Do you have in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, proxy advisory guidelines, and board specific governance? We are #hiring a Sr Governance and Compensation Specialist for our Calgary head office. If you have strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights, we want to hear from you
You will be a key contributor in the preparation of quarterly governance and HR meeting materials, the management information circular and other regulatory filings related to compensation and governance matters. As a part of your work, you will work on executive compensation and board mandates. Using your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will effectively engage with leaders and external stakeholders. You will join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose.
What you will do
Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices in governance and executive and director compensation
Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on governance-related matters, including board composition and compensation, committee mandates, and corporate governance disclosures
Manage relationships with external consultants, legal advisors, and proxy advisory firms to support governance and compensation-related initiatives
Contribute to global compensation projects, including policy development, market review and alignment, annual compensation program, as well as employee communication and process documentation
Conduct comprehensive analyses of compensation packages, including salary, bonuses, and long-term incentives, to ensure competitiveness and alignment with company goals
What you will bring
Nine years of experience in corporate governance and compensation
A Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field
In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, and proxy advisory guidelines (e.g., ISS, Glass Lewis)
Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and driving initiatives to completion
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Relevant certifications / designations (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional, Certified Corporate Governance Professional), would be considered an asset
