WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Compensation Specialist plays a critical role in design, implementation, and management of our organization's compensation and benefits programs. Their primary focus is on ensuring that the organization's pay and benefits structures are competitive, equitable, and aligned with business goals and industry standards. The Compensation Specialist will play a key role in the pay equity project to ensure successful submission of our Pay Equity Plan in Fall 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Conduct salary surveys and market research to assess the competitiveness of the organization's compensation packages. Analyze industry compensation trends and benchmark against peer companies to make informed recommendations.
  • Provide role specific market data and benchmarking to HRBP's to support talent acquisition and employment offers
  • Develop and maintain job classification systems and job descriptions.
  • Advise HR business partners on the rationales of job evaluation, and application of the compensation program and policies to ensure alignment and understanding to client groups
  • Evaluate and assign appropriate salary grades or pay bands to each job based on factors like job responsibilities, skills, and market data. Ensure tracking and recording of related data
  • Collaborate with Business Partnerships and Talent Programs to create a competency framework for excluded staff to support career progression and performance-based compensation
  • Collaborate on the designs and recommend compensation structures, including base salary, variable pay, recognition programs and incentive programs.
  • Support annual compensation cycle by preparing spreadsheets for manager allocation of annual increases, compile data to support calibration meetings and work with payroll to process approved bonus payouts and salary changes.
  • Generate compensation related reports and dashboards for senior management
  • Utilize Dayforce, our HCMS, to help manage and maintain compensation data for current and future roles
  • Supported by consulting expertise, coordinate and execute the necessary steps to ensure Pay Equity implementation and ongoing compliance.
  • Develop, implement and administer a new rewards and recognition program using a digital platform and purpose driven strategy.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Canadian Compensation Professional (CCP) or working towards and/or CHRP
  • 5+ years' experience in a Human Resources capacity with a focus on Compensation administration
  • Compensation design, survey analysis, market pricing and job evaluation experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability with comfort around numerical and confidential data and information with discretion
  • Working knowledge of Pay Equity legislation and administration
  • Strong financial analysis and business acumen relative to compensation, employee benefits and pensions
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities that can be relied on
  • Ability to critically think, strategically and creatively problem solve, effectively communicate possible solutions and proactively think of possible improvements to programs/processes/initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills and customer-service attitude
  • Experience with HR systems, including reporting, data input and data management. Experience with Ceridian Dayforce an asset
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a restricted area identification card (RAIC)
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work model with a combination of in-office and remote work.
