The Cloud Network engineer will have a strong background in cloud-based networking concepts, technologies, and solutions, with expertise in managing a variety of network security and optimization tools. This is crucial operations role supporting Network Infrastructure, ensuring reliability, availability, security, and performance. This person may need to act as 2IC to the Senior Network Engineer role.

About the role

  • Configure and manage Firewalls, appliances, and other devices in the network to enforce security policies and optimize network traffic.

  • Deploy and manage SD-WAN networks products, optimizing connectivity and performance across distributed locations.

  • Monitor and analyse network traffic, performance, and security events, identifying and mitigating potential issues and vulnerabilities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network architectures that support business requirements and objectives.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues, providing timely and effective support to end-users and stakeholders.

  • Implement and maintain network security controls and protocols to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access.

  • Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configurations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in cloud-based networking, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior team members, fostering professional growth and development.

  • Capable of working with multiple programming languages for multiple purposes. Experience in ARM templates, PowerShell and Python and DevOps practices to deploy and manage Infrastructure as code.

  • Participate incidents/problems including chairing incident post-mortem activities, apply fixes, resolve systematic issues, and suggest best Industry practices.

  • Provide L2/L3 support for services in scope.

  • Working a 24x7 on-call roster to support Business-critical systems and major incident escalations outside business hours via on-call roster.

  • Provide inputs and reviews to the Design process for cloud-based networking solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance from operational lens.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, preferable major in Networking

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, Checkpoint CCSA, Checkpoint CCSE, or Meraki certifications are a plus. Framework certifications – ITIL, PRINCE2, COBIT, TOGAF or similar highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing Checkpoint Firewalls, Netskope appliances, Azure Firewall, Citrix ADCs, and SD-WAN networks based on Meraki products.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-based networking concepts, architectures, and technologies, including virtual networks, VPNs, load balancers, and DNS.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Azure cloud. Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (AWS and GCP is a plus).

  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Proficiency in network routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and MPLS.

  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices, including encryption, authentication, and access control.

  • Extensive experience in using the following technologies:

    • Cisco Routing and Switching

    • Cisco Service Provider networking

    • Cisco SD WAN is a must have.

    • Meraki routing and Switching

    • Meraki Wireless

    • Checkpoint firewall

    • Netskope SSE is a must have.

    • Load balancer – Netscaler, Azure Traffic Manager, Azure Load balancer

    • WAF,DNS, certificate management

    • Experience with Azure DevOps is a must have.

    • Powershell scripting, IaC and Terraform

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyse complex network issues and implement effective solutions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results-driven attitude.

  • Any experience with network security is an advantage.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to communicate concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
