Who are we looking for?

Looking for a partner in conjunction with the HR Manager to work within a team of human resources specialists to deliver integrated human resources solutions to build and sustain a high performance culture and engaged workforce. This position builds strong relationships with client groups within Retailors work and corporate environment and drives business results through talent acquisition, succession planning, performance management, retention, and employee relations. In addition, this role is responsible for championing and executing a variety of programs to support business objectives and results.

Specific Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To) The Following

  • In conjunction with the Manager, Human Resources, ensures delivery of HR programs focused on enhancing organizational performance, depth of talent, and employee engagement.
  • Partners with HR team and other internal partners to proactively manage messaging, communication, and follow up with employees on human resources programs.
  • Provides direction, coaching and advice on the execution of human resources programs that support employee engagement and a high performance culture, specifically; performance management, talent acquisition, employee development, retention, total rewards, and recognition.
  • Provides direction, coaching, and advice in the areas of Human Resources policies and practices, employment standards and regulatory requirements, and employee issues, investigations, etc.
  • Proactively partners with managers to understand people issues and develop actionable and timely solutions, consulting other HR partners as required. Identifies key people trends and issues, and makes recommendations for changes, enhancement and solutions.
  • Work with the Joint Health & Safety Committee to oversee Occupational Health and Safety program initiatives and policies in keeping with provincial legislative requirements.
  • Manages WSIB and disability claims process, including modified job duties, and graduated return to work programs.
  • Oversees HR reporting on key metrics such as hiring, retention, engagement, etc.

The Ideal Candidate

  • University degree and CHRP certification preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years human resources generalist or HRBP experience
  • Proven experience in employee relations, recruitment, coaching, development, performance management, and conflict management
  • Solid knowledge of provincial employment standards, human rights, health & safety, AODA and other regulatory requirements
  • Maturity, discretion, integrity and sound judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
  • Ability to build relationships and work with various levels of management and employees; demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with the ability to get things done
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity and change
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Work location:

Office (Toronto) / Store environment

Some travel may be required.
