THE ROLE

New Metric Media is searching for a passionate, experienced and talented Head of People (Operations) to help build the newly formed HR and Operations functions at New Metric from the ground level. This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing entertainment studio and lead the successful growth of a talented and highly engaged workforce while also cultivating a unique culture and building the infrastructure to support our growth The successful candidate is someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, rapidly growing environment and will encompass a spectrum of responsibilities, combining strategic planning, talent acquisition, employee development, culture building, and Diversity and Inclusion. As a result, this individual, who will be the first individual on the team, will wear multiple hats given the evolving nature of the organization and be willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace and design and implement practices to support their achievement.

  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and offer letters.
  • Oversee the total rewards program, including compensation strategy, salaries, bonuses, and benefits program.
  • Lead and drive our workplace operations function covering real estate, productivity tools (hardware and software), hybrid work environment, and security.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee training and development programs to enhance skills and productivity.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with department heads and hiring managers to align staffing strategies with organizational needs, compensation, and business goals.
  • Provide guidance to people leaders on performance evaluations, goal-setting, and professional development plans for under-performing employees.
  • Assist in the identification of high-potential employees and support their career growth.
  • Prepare and present reports for leadership on People-related activities and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience working in a startup or medium-sized organizations - talent acquisition or recruitment is essential & HR Generalist support.
  • Knowledge in employment law, organizational planning, employee relations, training and development, talent management, performance management, and talent acquisition.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills and relationship management skills.
  • Must be a strategic critical thinker with the ability to partner with senior management to drive business objectives while considering employees’ interests.
  • Previous startup and/or industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Expertise to stay up to date with market trends and analytics.
  • Demonstrates well-developed business insight and understands how to implement/manage change.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, strong follow-up, critical thinking, and investigation skills.
  • Previous experience building culture and engagement programs in the past.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • High emotional quotient/intelligence and strong judgment with a demonstrated ability to navigate and solve complex interpersonal issues.
  • Experience working in the entertainment industry is an asset; passion for TV is a requirement.
  • Exceptional communications skills – oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • High level of maturity, integrity, and personal effectiveness.
  • Personal accountability and commitment to achieving and exceeding goals and objectives.
