The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is the national governing body for collegiate sport in Canada, with a vision to enrich the lives of student-athletes through intercollegiate competition. The CCAA is comprised of 96 member institutions from six athletic conferences. Reporting to the President, and responsible to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will lead all aspects of the CCAA with integrity and transparency and in accordance with CCAA’S Bylaws and policies. The Chief Executive Officer will function as a member of the Executive Committee and will share in the responsibility for the overall achievement of the CCAA mission, vision and objectives. The Chief Executive Officer will provide leadership in the implementation of the CCAA’s strategic plan related to governance, organizational effectiveness, finance, Student-Athlete development and safe sport.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Supporting the development, execution and monitoring of the strategic plan.
  • Ensuring there are effective reporting tools and accountability measures.
  • Developing, managing, and maintaining productive working relationships with the Board of Directors, membership, partners, stakeholders, government agencies and other staff.
  • Providing leadership to the staff to implement approved plans and achieve the goals set out in those plans and job descriptions.
  • Managing all day-to-day operations of CCAA. Ensure that all functions of the organization are meeting objectives and targets.
  • Assessing and leading the continuous improvement of all internal processes, systems, tools and technology to meet the demands of a growing organization.
  • Developing budgets that support the demands of the organization.
  • Enhancing relations and developing partnerships where appropriate with National Sport Organizations (NSOs) and multi-sport service organizations (MSOs).
  • Investigating mutually beneficial partnerships to advance CCAA Student-Athlete development and Safe Sport (including coaching development and education, athlete development, official development, safe sport training, concussion management and education), and work in partnerships to explore synergies for joint events and marketing opportunities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • A bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) and a minimum 10 years of related senior management experience in the sport/business sector or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven financial management skills including budgeting, forecasting, and overseeing preparation of financial statements and resource development. Previous experience with revenue generation, including the acquisition, maintenance, and retention of corporate sponsors and funding partners, would be an asset.
  • Ability to manage people and implement best-practices related to all facets of human resources, including recruitment, retention, evaluation, succession planning, and training and development.
  • Experience within a Sport related environment, Sport governing body, NSO/PSO and/or similar organization.
  • Experience in working effectively with a board of directors.
  • Has developed, implemented and operationalized a strategic plan.
  • Strong ability to work in a collaborative, supportive fashion with a variety of teams, both internal and external, and bring them together in a way that promotes the organization’s best interests.
  • Demonstrated strong values and ethics, in accordance with CCAA Code of Ethics (and other CCAA policies), through personal and professional behavior.
  • Skilled at building consensus, issue management and dispute resolution.
  • Strong written and oral communications, public/media relations, and events expertise.
  • The ability to communicate in both English and French is considered an important asset, with emphasis being placed on verbal communication.
  • Travel is required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to meet all requirements for National travel (to meetings and National Championships as required).
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Police Record Check and/or vulnerable sector check, safe sport training and other screening requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The place of work is the CCAA office located in Cornwall, Ontario. Parking is included when required. The position entails a 37.5-hour work week. A hybrid work model (comprised of both remote and in-office work) may be offered at the CCAA’s discretion.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $94,179 to $112,553, and starting pay will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Also included is an attractive employee benefits package (medical, dental insurance) and a College defined benefits pension plan through CAAT. Starting employees receive four weeks vacation and an additional 5 vacation days at Christmas to add onto statutory holidays.
