Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.
**Summary of responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Chief Information and Operating Officer, and in collaboration with the Chief of Radiology and Radiologists, the Director, Diagnostics Imaging will lead and oversee our Diagnostic Imaging Department. This incumbent will ensure the delivery of high-quality imaging services, oversee the management of department operations, and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards.
General Accountabilities:
- Leadership and Management
- Provide strategic direction and operational planning and oversight for the Diagnostic
Imaging Department, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and
mammography.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate diagnostic imaging staff, fostering professional growth and a
culture of excellence.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to align imaging services with organizational goals.
- Operational Oversight
- Oversee the management of departmental budgets, staffing, and resources to ensure
efficient and effective operations.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize patient care
and safety.
- Ensure equipment maintenance and timely upgrades to meet industry standards.
- Quality and Compliance
- Maintain compliance with provincial and professional regulations, as well as accreditation
standards.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of imaging services, implementing improvement initiatives
as needed.
- Ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols and other regulatory requirements.
- Patient Care and Collaboration
- Foster strong relationships with physicians, clinical teams, and external providers to
support seamless patient care.
- Address patient and family concerns related to imaging
**Requirements of the job**:
- Undergraduate Degree in a healthcare related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years relevant clinical management experience of interprofessional healthcare teams
- Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures, services and techniques for multiple modalities to ensure regulatory, quality, safety and accreditation standards are met
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and continuous quality improvement
- Strong Organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Strong communication skills both written and oral (i.e. ability to prepare and present reports/ proposals)
- Working knowledge of budget, planning, reviewing, maintaining
- Ability to critically appraise safety, quality improvement, ethical and clinical issues
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Time management
- Conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and working in a unionized environment
- Working knowledge of Quality Based Procedures and best practice guidelines relevant to surgery and Required Organizational Practices as defined by Accreditation Canada
