Position Requirements:

Comprehensive understanding of all vertical and horizontal assets across the organization to provide appropriate data information, assessments, and recommend outputs for a holistic approach to operations and Long-Term Capital Plans regarding those assets.

Ensure the protection and management of the Town’s maps and asset management database following the Town’s policies and procedures.

Conduct spatial analysis, technical mapping, coordinate geometry scanning and georeferencing of images, conversion of other sources of digital data, and editing procedures in various GIS programs.

Conduct thorough QA/QC reviews of drawings and engineering infrastructure assets to ensure spatial accuracy and data quality, in alignment with engineering GIS/CAD standards and asset management requirements

Coordinate (collection, preparation, organization, and maintenance) meta-data, spatial, and non-spatial data on an ongoing basis for Town infrastructure relevant to asset management.

Prepare necessary reports for management, Council, and government.

Assist organizational departments across the Municipality in enhancing and streamlining service delivery for assets through cost-effective optimization

Identify and implement capital improvement projects, operational and long-term capital planning, and request proposals and tenders for works related to asset management or GIS services.

Identify opportunities and prepare submissions for asset management-related funding programs across various municipal departments.

Collaborate with various departments to provide technical asset management information for long-term planning and budget forecasting, Tangible Capital Assets, and full-cost accounting functions.

Coordinate asset management plans, strategies, policies, and procedures to support asset management initiatives.

Other duties as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Asset Management, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Practical experience in municipal mapping and cartography.
  • 5 years of experience in civil or architectural engineering design drawings, GPS surveys, geography, and municipal planning.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, ESRI Suite, and other GIS platforms.
  • Experience working with geodatabases, relational databases, as-built drawings, Autodesk CAD software, and scripting and programming language skills.
