Reporting to the Vice President of Insurance and Risk, the Property Insurance Examiner will investigate, manage and settle all assigned claims within the respective companies SIR and facilitate the diligent resolution of claims above SIR with our TPA and insurer partners. This position will be a member of the Insurance and Risk team.
**WHAT WILL YOU DO?**
- Reviews incident reports to determine internal action or assignment to third-party adjusters.
- Ensure appropriate incident response in the field in a timely manner.
- Conduct direct investigations and manage claims within the SIR, providing recommendations for resolution with a focus on cost control.
- Manage administration and payment of invoices for property, contents, and issues Purchase Orders (POs) for approval and ensures timely payment.
- Work with insurers, operations, and technical services on management of property claims and presentation of claims to insurers or management based on the nature of the claim.
- Recommend reserves and necessary investigations for exposure, prepare action plans for approval, and negotiate fair and satisfactory settlements.
- Documents all claims activities and correspondence in Avenue’s Claims Management System.
- Collaborate with Risk Analysts to review and analyze incident and claims data for trends, determining possible risk control activities.
- Pursue subrogation from third party insurers and recommend files for litigation.
- Manage relationships with third party claims, forensic, and restoration vendors.
- Support the Vice President, Insurance and Risk regarding all aspects of corporate insurance programs; including claims administration, loss forecasting, and analysis to assist in loss reduction and other duties as may be assigned.
**WHAT WILL YOU NEED?**
- Bachelors, diploma or equivalent related experience in, finance, risk management or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in in property claims adjusting inclusive of subrogation is a preferred asset.
- Enrolment in or completion of CRM or CIP designation is preferred.
- Familiar with independent adjusting industry.
- Previous experience in building construction or restoration projects will be an asset.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean abstract, in order to travel to support claims resolution.

- Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to present to all staff levels including management.
- Requires a high level of mathematical and reasoning ability to calculate and analyze data to arrive at a logical conclusion.
