National ACS Specialist (Full-Time) - Montreal East, QC

Primary Description:

Reporting to the Area Manager, the National ACS Specialist supports the control systems and automation team with maintaining and upgrading the plant control computers. It is also to provide operations computer support for multiple facilities located in Canada.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Order computers and parts, confirm reception and condition.
  • Configure computers and network devices and ship to plants.
  • On occasion, travel to sites across Canada to help replace and upgrade computers.
  • Maintain control system databases.
  • Monitor Canadian plant operations computers health.
  • Configure and maintain automated reports and programs.
  • Participate in control computers maintenance, updates, upgrades, and quality control.
  • Recycle computers and hardware parts.
  • Participate in safety (MOC) and quality assurance (maintaining validation) documentation.
  • Lead personnel with installation, configuration and ongoing usability of system hardware and software specific to plant operations computers.
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to the department’s needs and standards.
  • Recommend best practices.
  • Offer daily operations and systems support to plant operations personnel.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education:
  • College Diploma or University Degree in a computer field, computer engineering or discipline or equivalent competencies in science, computer or technology.
Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience related to network design, computer support or VB programming or equivalent.
  • Experience in budget management is an asset.
  • Experience in the industrial gases or pharmaceutical industry is an asset.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Excellent time management and work prioritization skills with an ability to effectively manage multiple high impact priorities and obtain results.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • A positive attitude, be willing to quickly adapt to changing situations, have strong communications skills, and a strong will to build and maintain productive relationships across departmental lines.
  • Able and willing to adapt to a work schedule that coincides with plant operational needs. Must also be able and willing to work for extended periods of time in an operating plant under various environmental conditions.
  • Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently as well as to lead and participate on cross-functional teams.
  • Strong Computer and Windows environment knowledge for troubleshooting, diagnostic, maintenance, and basic repair.
  • Programming skills (Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic and MS-DOS are an asset.)
  • Professional, excellent verbal, written and presentation skills in both French and English.
