Our Client:
Our client, is a highly successful Canadian asset management firm with an expansive global and national platform which invests in a variety of asset classes including real estate, energy, and private equity. Currently, they are seeking a Director of Investor Relations to take on a front-facing leadership mandate within their publicly traded private equity vehicle.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Managing Director of Private Equity, the selected candidate will be responsible for executing strategic and investor relations-focused initiatives. This will include:
providing day-to-day oversight and support for the organization’s existing and growing investor base and equity analysts. In addition, the individual will interact within all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, investment professionals, and portfolio managers to drive the strategy, as well as provide oversight for the junior members of the team.
The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in a relevant position including equity research, portfolio management, corporate development, or investor relations, and will possess deep knowledge of equity valuation from a public capital markets perspective. The chosen candidate will have excellent communication skills including both strong written and presentation abilities.This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and motivated individual to join a prestigious and reputable asset manager in a highly visible and impactful role.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage equity analyst relationships, including initiation and ongoing coverage.
- Formulate and execute strategic planning to develop key investor relationships, both public and private.
- Coordinate and actively participate in quarter end activities and communications to investors.
- Actively engage in the formulation of key messaging to the market and be an effective communicator of this messaging both verbally and in written format.
- Plan and be responsible for regularly recurring investor events, such as annual investor day.
- Articulate the organization’s equity strategy crisply and effectively to stakeholders, including describing new transaction activity.
- Proactively manage investor relationships to execute on strategies to raise investor awareness and understanding of the business.
- Understand and assess investor sentiment and implement programs to take advantage of market momentum and address issues.
- Be able to articulate the organization equity strategy crisply and effectively to stakeholders, including describing new transaction activity.
- Report on activities to senior management and the board.
Desired Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in business or finance and CPA, MBA and/or CFA designation preferred.
- 7-10 years of experience in any of the following disciplines:
capital markets, investment banking, equity research, corporate development, investor relations. - Clear history of working with public company and/or public markets investors.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a particular strength in dealing with a wide variety of individuals at various levels within and outside of the organization.
- Analytic and strategic thinker with the ability to assess complex situations and make effective recommendations.
- Proactive self-starter who is able to handle pressure effectively and has experience working with senior management teams.
- Team-oriented;
demonstrates a commitment to shared success above any personal accomplishment or recognition.
