Job Overview:

As the Regulatory Affairs Specialist is responsible for providing clear and timely regulatory input to the Product Development and Marketing Departments for new innovation projects, as well as existing product changes, ensuring that local and international requirements are fully met. The role will be tasked with combining knowledge of scientific, legal, and business issues to ensure products manufactured and distributed by Give & Go meet appropriate legislation.


What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Responsible for label compliance on assigned Give & Go product categories
  • Generate technical packaging information for new and existing products in compliance with Canadian, U.S., and other International regulations, including ingredient declarations, allergen statements, nutrition facts, product and nutrient content claims
  • Review label artwork for accuracy and regulatory compliance, providing final approval to the Marketing team
  • Be an expert on customer templates and web portals for specification entries and assigned label reviews on portals
  • Respond to regulatory questions related to formulations and general labelling information
  • Provide regulatory support to the Regulatory Affairs team, Product Development, Marketing, QA, Sales, and Purchasing teams
  • Conduct in-depth research to assure understanding of regulations that affect Give and Go’s products
  • Apply understanding of scientific disciplines to meet expectations of regulators
  • Apply assigned product categories for compliance with Canadian, United States and other International markets in providing guidance on complex projects to help to the with and provide mentorship to junior members of the team.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and improvement of procedures and testing programs related to regulatory requirements and product compliance.
  • Liaise with Marketing to ensure products requiring testing are brought forward in a timely manner
  • Become a subject matter expert in assigned regulatory projects (e.g. Bioengineering)
  • Assist in providing information required during annual GFSI and other regulatory audits
  • Assist with nutritional analyses in the development of new and reformulated products
  • Analyze nutritional composition of products using Genesis software to ensure nutrient content claims are met where required
  • Review analytical nutritional data from third party testing laboratories for accuracy and getting any discrepancies resolved
  • Collaborate with and provide mentorship in handling discrepancies to junior members of the team.
  • Stay informed of new applicable laws and maintain up-to-date knowledge on food labelling regulations through attending courses, webinars, and the use of regulatory agencies’ websites
  • Participate in weekly learnings shared by the team
  • Inform the team if any emerging risks that may impact labelling and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in consultations with regulatory agencies and assist in providing feedback on upcoming regulatory changes on behalf of Give & Go



The Recipe for Success:

  • Completion of university degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or other relevant scientific discipline
  • Minimum 4 years experience in the Food Manufacturing industry
  • Minimum 4 years experience in a regulatory Affairs role
  • Knowledge of ESHA Genesis nutrition software program
  • Working knowledge of HC, and FDA, and other international food regulatory agencies
  • Maintain current knowledge of HC, FDA, and other International food labeling regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Results-oriented team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
