Regulatory Affairs Specialist

**Duties**
- The primary focus of the role is to ensure the accuracy of the regulatory information in our databases for ingredients, allergens, formulas and labels for Canada US markets
- Issuance of label information documents that comply with the regulations; and regulatory compliance of final product labels including product naming, ingredients, nutrition facts, claims, third party certifications (e.g., BRCGS, kosher), images and romance copy.
- The role will support the broader regulatory team on other initiatives on an as-needed basis, such as supporting regulatory compliance assessments of ingredients, formulas, labels.
- Ability to interface effectively with internal partners (Regulatory, Sales, R&D, Quality, Production) providing regulatory guidance.
- Create, update all finished product specifications based on departmental requests
- Responsible for the _regulatory compliance to overall plant and adherence to _BRC’s Global Standard for Food Safety Certifications.
- Coordination of graphics development and product labeling.
- Coordinate with product developer and marketing for new and/or update formulation and update internal documents accordingly
- Coordination with external parties (distributors, vendors, legal counsel, importers, authorities) to ensure that products are legally compliant
- Responsible for the regulatory compliance in suppliers, incoming materials, formulations, customer documents, product specifications.
- Review, create and maintain regulatory information (product specifications, product labels, nutritional and allergen information ) related to ingredients, ingredient formulations and finished products for the Canadian and US market to assess and assure compliance with the corresponding regulatory agency’s policies, regulations, and standards (CFIA, Health Canada, FDA, USDA).
- Ensure formulations are updated, accurate, complete and approved prior to production.
- Help guide the product development process to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current food regulations, labelling requirements and relevant technical product and processing information in Canada and US. Assure appropriate interpretation of these regulations and communicate impact to the business.
- Member of the HACCP Team and RSPO Team
- Direct and supervise the implementation and continuous improvement of the HACCP program.
- Provide resources to implement and maintain the BRC program including GMP and food safety training on scheduled basis
- Be a part of Internal Audit team and follow-up on root cause analysis and corrective action
**Skills**
- A university or college degree in a related field such as Food Science and/or Nutritional Science. Post-graduate degrees would be an asset.
- 2+ years of experience in a regulatory affairs role in the food industry.
- Excellent knowledge of regulatory processes and requirements related to food, food safety, and food labeling. Knowledge of Canadian and American regulations is a must.
- Ability to manage and track multiple projects, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally and collaborating with colleagues at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and develop creative solutions.
- Excellent presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- HACCP, RSPO and BRCGS Knowledge would be an asset.
