Job Summary

Since 2016, the Excellence through Quality Improvement Project (E-QIP) has been supporting the mental health and addictions sector to improve client care through quality improvement activities. The Project is funded by the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Ontario Health and is delivered collaboratively by Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) and Canadian Mental Health Association, (CMHA) Ontario Division.

The Quality Improvement (QI) and Data Coach will develop and deliver project and organizational support related to QI models/frameworks (for example, the Model for Improvement), practices, methods, tools, change ideas, and policies to CMHA branches. Coaches also work with community MHA agencies to build their measurement and data analytic capacity, specifically for the purposes of quality improvement. Activities include assessment of data, using data to identify gaps in quality, development of measurement plans and process and outcome indicators, analysis of results, and linking local and system measurement.

This is a special funded full-time, temporary contract position till June 30, 2026. This position is within the bargaining Unit. Reporting to the Chief Quality and System Performance Officer.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide QI and data literacy coaching to providers across the mental health and addiction sector through a range of E-QIP offerings, including 1:1 coaching, consultations, communities of practice, and webinars.
  • Working with the other CMHA coaches, provide backbone support to the CMHA network of branches to advance quality culture and common measurement activities.
  • Serve as knowledge broker by connecting MHA providers and organizations to best practices, resources, and tools.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and assist in developing QI knowledge and skills for CMHA Ontario, CMHA branches and the broader MHA sector.
  • Guide and advise organizations in the use of measurement to for QI to support assessment, analysis and reporting of data, and development of indicators.
  • Develop, plan, and deliver curriculum for a range of QI and data literacy offerings.
  • Facilitate adoption and implementation of best practices and support organizational leaders in change management.
  • Support QI projects/initiatives across the CMHA network and the MHA sector.
  • Ongoing assessment of organizational QI and data culture.
  • Other duties and activities as required.

Skill-Based Competencies

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced knowledge of current QI literature and practices (e.g., Quadruple Aim)
  • Training in the Model for Improvement and/or Lean Six Sigma is required.
  • Experience with data including measurement, analysis and reporting is required.
  • Group facilitation skills are required.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks within established timelines in a team environment required.
  • Strong PC software skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Familiarity with the mental health and addiction sector in Ontario is preferred.

Salary

Hiring Rate: This position pays $81,124.71 per annum, based on a 35-hour work week.

Working Conditions

This is a special funded full-time, temporary contract position till June 30, 2026, working standard office hours (35 hours/week). This position is remote and may require some travel. 

This position is also a desk job with extended periods of sitting, reading, telephone interaction, and working at the computer. This position involves some moderate lifting, shipping, and handling. Attendance at various meetings throughout the workday/workweek will be required; meetings may occur on short notice, depending on the circumstances.

This position is within the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
