ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST II

Summarized Position Responsibilities:
The City of West Kelowna seeks an engineering professional to support utility services, capital projects, and maintenance programs. This role includes preparing contract documents, coordinating project designs, monitoring construction, and liaising with the public and external agencies. The engineering professional will also build relationships with consultants and Provincial agencies, collaborate with City of West Kelowna departments, and provide technical support to municipal work crews.

Additionally, the role involves responding to engineering inquiries related to infrastructure, presentations as required, supervising and inspecting engineering services, and contributing to reports and policy development. The professional will assist with GIS and GPS data review and verification, as well as maintaining department bylaws and policies.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A member of, or eligibility for full membership in, the Applied Science Technologist and Technicians Association of BC as an AScT or CTech
  • A minimum of 3 years design and inspection experience in the field of Municipal Engineering
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of engineering and operations practices, design principles, and cost estimation
  • Familiarity with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations
  • Skills in data interpretation, technical report preparation, and recommendations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS, and experience with relevant models
  • Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and communicate policies with tact and discretion
