ABOUT DIGI: Digi owns and operates an extensive telecommunications network throughout the country of Belize in wireline, wireless and data services. The company offers and uses a wide range of products and technologies that include fixed line telephone service, fixed wireless, national and international calling services, prepaid services, an advanced LTE mobile network, international voice and data roaming, Fiber internet and data services.

ABOUT ROLE:

The Service Operations & Maintenance (SO&M) Technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of the outside Plant (Distribution, Access, and Drop layer) and is required to comply with documented processes and procedures. Additional responsibilities of the successful candidate include but is not limited to connecting customers to the network, troubleshooting, handling complaints, repairs/replacement of access lines and CPEs. This position reports to the Service Operations & Maintenance Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in related field OR
  • High school diploma with 3 years’ relevant work experience or certification in related field
  • Capacity to understand current and planned BTL network
  • Knowledge of Fixed Broadband and mobile networks
  • Knowledge of Microsoft product such as word, excel, power point etc.
  • Any internationally recognized Fiber optic certification such as CFOT, CFOS/T/S, etc.
  • Experience with OSP tools/techniques such as OPM, OTDR, VFL and mechanical/ fusion splicing
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a team environment

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Service & Network Operations

  • Field engineering and delivery of new fixed access connection to residential and business customers
  • Detailed information on all fixed access network diagrams, network maps, configurations and in-service CPE’s.
  • Repair/replacement of access lines and CPE’s within the specified time
  • Taking new fixed access networks and fixed access network elements into operation after acceptance (testing) of engineering project deliverables
  • Maintenance of the Outside plant infrastructure
  • Handling major network issues and disaster situations

Operations & Maintenance

  • Investigate and resolve trouble tickets
  • Execute preventive maintenance per customer and for the Passive layer
  • End to End installation and faults for residential customers
  • Replacement of passive layer network elements, splicing of fiber or any other repair in the fiber or copper areas.
  • Network optimization
  • Knowledgeable of Digi products and services
  • Going beyond Digi current demarcation policy and owning the customer experience with regards to fault management
