Position Overview:
As the Working Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, tax compliance, and financial reporting across multiple provinces. You will manage a small team of accounting administrators and work closely with senior management to support the company’s financial health. This role requires a deep understanding of provincial tax laws, payroll requirements, and Workers' Compensation rules to ensure compliance and accuracy across jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily accounting operations including AR, AP, payroll, and bank reconciliations for multiple provinces.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial tax laws, Workers’ Compensation regulations, and payroll requirements.
  • Prepare and present financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • File tax returns (HST, corporate taxes) and manage year-end tax requirements across various jurisdictions.
  • Lead and train the accounting team, ensuring that tasks are handled efficiently and accurately.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent financial reporting and budgeting.
  • Implement and monitor cash flow management strategies and budgets.
  • Provide support during audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance accounting efficiency.
  • Assist with long-term financial planning and analysis for senior management.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or equivalent accounting qualification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with experience handling multi-province accounting.
  • In-depth knowledge of provincial accounting regulations, tax laws, and payroll requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Sage Intacct, ADP, SAP Concur is a plus).
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing a small team.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
