In this role you will:

  1. Ensure operational safety, service, and quality of Air Traffic Services in collaboration with the Manager, Area Control Centre Operations (MACCO), Manager, Air Traffic Operations (MATO), Manager, Terminal and Tower Operations (MTTO), Area Control Centre (ACC) Unit Manager, Site Managers, supervisors, and Manager, ATS Standards Compliance (MATSSC).
  2. Evaluate daily service delivery performance and report performance to the MACCO, MATO, and NOC.
  3. Assist Site and Specialty Supervisors for immediate interpretation of Air Traffic Services Administration and Management Manual (ATSAMM), Manual of Air Traffic Services (MATS), Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) requirements and elevate the request for interpretation if required.
  4. Identify, plan and direct daily operations during non-normal events such as airport or runway closures, major weather events, flight inspections, partial or full Communications, Navigation and Surveillance - Air Traffic Management (CNS-ATM) equipment failures, implementation of new ATS technology, aircraft incidents and/or accidents, etc.
  5. Notify appropriate stakeholders of any affected facilities of equipment or environmental discrepancies/outages and emergencies/unusual situations that may impact the facility(ies).
  6. Identify resource requirements to deliver day of operation services and execute on productivity and service delivery improvements within budget.
  7. Be responsible for ATS staff during the day-of operation including the responsibility to match daily staff requirement to traffic, hire overtime, allocate operational priorities, provide guidance and coaching to staff, approve ad-hoc leave and take disciplinary action as required.

  1. Education: Successful completion of secondary school, or equivalent.
  2. Experience: 3 years supervisory or management experience in the industry.
  3. Knowledge and Abilities: Equivalent level of knowledge gained through extensive management experience in an aviation operational environment. Knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry. Knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Air Navigation System and Air Traffic Management.

Working Conditions:

This position is based at Gander ACC, is classified as an onsite position, will involve shifts that are normally scheduled between 0700 – 2300 hrs and will require some on-call duty after hours. This position is not eligible for a flexible work arrangement. Occasional travel required.
