Job Summary

The Ambulance Operator/Attendant will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients, exercising care and skill in driving ambulances. The successful incumbent will work at the full scope of EMR to provide optimal patient care, utilizing proper lifting techniques and other related duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely and efficiently, exercising care and skill in driving ambulances.
  • Work at the full scope of EMR to provide optimal patient care.
  • Utilize proper lifting techniques and other related duties as required.
  • Promote and support person-and family-centered care.
  • Partner with team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland & Labrador Department of Education.
  • Successful completion of an Emergency Medical Responder course (10-day course).
  • Current Registration as an EMR with NLPR.
  • Current certification number with the Office of the Provincial Medical Director (OPMD).
  • A valid Newfoundland and Labrador issued class 04 driver's license.
  • An acceptable Driver's Abstract from Motor Vehicle Registration.
  • BLS certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Successful candidate will be required to be within a 20-kilometre radius of the base when required for standby.
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
  • A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
