Claims Consultant

What the day will look like

  • Claims advocacy at a junior to intermediate capacity;
  • Consulting with clients on minor to intermediate losses, providing guidance and assistance with emphasis on claims preparation, submission, and resolution;
  • Analyzing claims and coverage issues while guiding the claims process;
  • Researching legal decisions and judgments on insurance contracts and claims as required;
  • Take the lead position with Account Managers and Brokers to resolve coverage disputes with insurers;
  • Prepare reports on claims disputes for management review and guidance;
  • Make recommendations to clients as appropriate for the settlement of losses;
  • Coordinate and attend claims settlement meetings with clients and insurers;
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of quality control standards;
  • Provide general guidance and support to the Claims Management Team as required and approved by the Regional Claims Manager;
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with other claims professionals;
  • Maintain accurate time management records;
  • Performing other duties as required.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 3-5 years of claims handling experience in the property/casualty sector
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Post-secondary education, or relevant experience.
  • Eligibility for a General Insurance License
  • Committed to continuous learning and professional development, including certifications such as CIP, CAIB, or CRM.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Client-focused with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
