The Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation is seeking a Strategic Initiatives Director. The Strategic Initiatives Director is a key member of the QCH Foundation team, working with the President and CEO this position is responsible for the implementation of growth initiatives in alignment with Queensway Carleton Hospital’s fundraising goals. With a focus on innovation, the role will be focused on impact and effectiveness of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Support the President and CEO in developing and executing major strategic initiatives, including expansion of fundraising programs and the creation of new projects
- Track, measure and report on the execution and results of the organization as a whole and new strategic initiatives
- Primary liaison with QCH Finance in the conduction of financial analysis and reporting
- Evaluate challenges in existing fundraising and operations of the organization and champion enhancements in collaboration with program leads
- Work closely with all team members, ensuring alignment and effective communication across initiatives
- Assist and collaborate closely other team members in achieving their operational goals, creating a holistic view of all fundraising programs, integrating findings, identifying opportunities and ensuring cohesive strategy execution
- Lead the research and formulation of business cases for new strategies related to QCH Foundation’s fundraising priorities including annual campaign, capital campaign and 50th anniversary celebrations
- Research and oversee the implementation of technical solutions that result in effective, efficient and excellent data management
- Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders to gather input, facilitate buy-in and achieve alignment on key strategic directions
- Oversee and champion the implementation of pilot programs, taking charge of measurement, investment planning and post-execution evaluation
- Develop and maintain excellent community partnerships as well as internal stakeholder groups at QCH
- Prepare and deliver written and verbal presentations
- Develop, implement, evaluate and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures within assigned functional areas
- Manage and coordinate operations resources
- Develop, manage, and ensure adherence to approved program budgets
- Provide advice and assistance to other managers, directors, CEO, Board and committees as required
- Be thoroughly familiar with and ensure adherence to pertinent legislation, regulations, contracts, guidelines, QCH Foundation mission, policies, procedures and plans
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of best practices and trends in social, environmental and cultural issues relating to healthcare and fundraising
- Produce and maintain accurate reports, records, and files
- Manage department administrative files and human resources documents and files
- Participate in supervision, evaluation, training, and other meetings as required
- Provide training, orientation and supervision for student, volunteer, and work placements as required
- Lead and manage operational staff including orientation, training, performance management, coaching and daily supervision
- Hire, fire and discipline staff in consultation with the President and CEO
- Be familiar with and ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures
- Participate in the identification and evaluation of QCH Foundation program goals and objectives
- Participate in professional development opportunities
- Assist with the planning and execution of team and board strategy planning sessions
- Post-secondary school degree or diploma in a related field – business degree preferred
- Significant demonstrated experience with the implementation of technology solutions
- A minimum of 8 years’ relevant progressive experience in strategy consulting
- A minimum of 4 years’ leadership experience
- Demonstrated excellent strategic and critical thinking skills and business acumen
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and significant experience with databases and technology applications
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written).
- Ambitious, organized and able to work on several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team (remotely and in-person) efficiently and independently.
- Self-directed and proactive with a dedication to achieving and exceeding goals and objectives
- Creative with strong problem-solving skills.
- Work as a team player promoting a positive and professional work environment and conduct role with integrity and respect.
- Act as an Ambassador throughout the community, positively representing the Foundation.
- Abide by the policies and procedures of the Foundation and the Hospital.
- Operates within culture and core values of the organization.
- Pursues professional development and continuing education opportunities as well as seeking informal opportunities to expand professional knowledge through consultation with peers.
- Works collaboratively with the hospital communications team to ensure alignment of key messages and strategy.
Work Environment
- Based out of a typical office environment however extensive local travel is required with personal vehicle. This position is required to work evenings and weekends from time to time. This is a full-time position with health benefits and a competitive pension plan.
