Educational Development Facilitator, Strategic Initiatives

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Teaching Excellence and Innovation (TE&I), the Educational Development Facilitator, Strategic Initiatives is responsible for the support and implementation of teaching and learning resources and programs that align with current areas of strategic focus. This includes broad areas such as student engagement, the integration of experiential learning and other high impact practices, indigenization of the curriculum, students-as-partners, research as pedagogy, and the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). The subject focus of this position will regularly adapt to be in alignment with TLS and Carleton strategic priorities as they relate to teaching and learning. The Educational Development Facilitator, Strategic Initiatives plays an integral role in support and implementation of the University's strategic priorities as they relate to teaching and learning.
Qualifications:The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Ensure alignment of resources and programming with strategic priorities.
• Collaborate effectively with the Educational Development team and TE&I staff in all phases of educational resource planning, development, delivery, and evaluation.
• Work independently with minimal supervision to coordinate the development of resources, services, and programs tailored to diverse audiences.
• Build and enhance relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty members, contract instructors, graduate students, TAs, and the public.
• Possess strong teaching, research, organizational, and communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, tact, and discretion, especially when handling confidential information.
• Exhibit adaptability and resilience, maintaining composure and focus during high-pressure situations and effectively managing complex requirements and tight deadlines.
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• Completion of a master's degree, preferably in Education or Educational Psychology with a focus in Adult Education will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with PhDs in relevant disciplines.
• Three years of experience working in a university setting, either in a teaching or educational development capacity.
• Experience teaching in higher education, or educational development work in an academic setting required. Strong skills and experience with technology and tools used in teaching and in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
