Overview of the Position

The Senior Leader, Corporate Contracts & Compliance is accountable for all corporate contracts, privacy compliance and lease administration functions. This multifaceted role also provides support on legal and regulatory frameworks. 

This position is an on-site role, based in our beautiful Home Office, which is located at 475 Panet Road, in Winnipeg.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Drafts, reviews, and assists in the negotiation of various commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Ensures contracts align with company policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management strategies.
  • Collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders to resolve contractual issues.
  • Oversees the maintenance of a centralized contract repository and tracking system to manage contract life cycle.
  • Reviews real estate agreements, including leases, renewals, and amendments with both external legal counsel and internal teams.
  • Oversees the lease administration for corporate properties, including office spaces, warehouses, and facilities. Coordinates with landlords, property managers, and internal stakeholders to address lease-related issues and optimize lease terms.
  • Ensures accurate and timely lease payments, renewals, and terminations in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Stays updated on emerging privacy trends and regulatory developments to proactively address compliance requirements.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Accountable for leading and directing the department in accomplishing daily tasks and project work in support of the company and department plans as well as recruitment, performance monitoring, coaching and development.
  • Creates a team environment through ongoing communication and promotes an open-door policy.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • LL.B. or J.D. degree or equivalent education
  • 8+ years’ experience in contract management, compliance, and/or legal roles within a corporate environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract law, privacy regulations, regulatory frameworks, and lease administration principles.
  • Proven track record of drafting, negotiating, and managing complex contracts and agreements.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy and protection requirements, with experience in developing and implementing privacy compliance programs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and develop proactive solutions.
